Looking for a new vampire flick? Check. Want it to be a little different than the usual fare? Check. Want it to involve a young vampire and the mortal they are in love with? Check. Looking for Twilight? Not check. Yes there is another young vampire flick coming out this fall other than Twilight-and this one is coming out sooner.

“Let the Right One In” is a Swedish film about the undead girl next door. Eli (Lina Leandersson) moves in next door to Oskar (Kåre Hedebrant), the perpetual target of bully attacks and the two become close. Soon people start turning up dead and like most people Oskar is a little fascinated by the strangeness of the attacks. (One person is found hanging upside down with his throat cut). After some time Oskar starts to piece together Eli's involvement. Despite the similarities noted earlier in the article there's not much else that makes “Let the Right One In” at all like “Twilight”. This film seems to be the other side of the coin that “Twilight” was minted on. It's much darker and more focused on horror despite the younger age of the characters. It will appeal much more to those fans of traditional vampire stories while still managing to tie in to the allure of loving a creature that most would consider evil. The film debuted at the Tribeca festival and will be released in the US by Magnolia Pictures. It has already received rave reviews from people at the festival and is currently holding a rating of 8.5 with 1,331 votes on IMDb. It looks like you will only be able to see the movie before Halloween in New York and Los Angeles where it is playing now. Full release schedule below the trailer.
"Let the Right One In" is now playing in New York and Los Angeles, and opens Oct. 31 in Iowa City, Iowa; Nov. 7 in San Diego and Washington DC; Nov. 14 in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle; Nov. 21 in Denver and Providence, R.I.; and Nov. 28 in Nashville and Santa Fe, N.M., with more cities to follow.
