December 19th Universal pictures will be premiering The Tale of Despereaux, a great family fantasy film for the holiday season. It is based on the book of the same name by Kate Dicamillo and stars Dustin Hoffman as Roscuro, Emma Watson as Princess Pea, and Matthew Broderick as Despereaux.
Despereaux is an oddly proportioned mouse. He is extremely small with large floppy ears, and as much courage as the bravest of knights. He was born into the kingdom of Dor where soup and rats have both been banned because of an unfortunate accident that caused the death of the Queen. Ever since that time the world has become dreary and gray with little hope of change. After being banished from his home for his lack of fear Despereaux finds that the Princess has been captured and he embarks on a quest to save her. Joining him for the journey is the rat Roscuro (Hoffman) who Despereaux befriends in this clip.
This movie is only Emma Watson's second outside of the Harry Potter franchise where she plays Hermione Granger. She will be attending the premiere on December 7th at the Arc Light Hollywood Theatre. It is unknown whether she voiced her character in the video game that was supposed to have been released December 2nd. The game was delayed due to publisher Brash Entertainment going out of business. Atari picked up the rights for the game and has expressed that it will still be available before the December 19th movie premiere.
Here is the official trailer for the movie. Have a pen ready afterward so that you can mark your calendars for December 19th.
