 We still have a few months until Season 5 of Lost premieres in the US in early 2009, but after an official ABC teaser trailer hit the Internet recently little pieces of season 5 news came along with it. The new trailer contains a lot of Season 4 footage and very fast shots of new footage that show a lot of things, and characteristically, leave you with more questions than before.
About 30 seconds into the trailer Jack says “He told me that some very bad things happened” after being asked by Ben if Locke had told him what happened to them. We are then shown some new footage including: - Locke on the ground with a big gun pointed at him by someone we don't see.
- Charlotte with a bloody nose.
- Juliet digging in the dirt with her hands and coming upon what looks like a metal box.
- Faraday in a cave (?) wearing a hard hat.
- Hurley holding a gun-it looks like there is blood on his shirt.
- Sayid says in a voice over “You need to get to the safe house” and is shown first being pushed into the wall by a man, and then Sayid is hitting the man in a kitchen.
- Hurley appears to be dragging someone along at his side and appears to be wearing the same clothes as when we saw him with the gun and says “We never should have left that island!”
- Sun in a white room guarded by a man. She is pounding on the door saying “Open this door!”
- Kate packing a gun into her bag as Aaron comes up and asks “Where are we going, Mommy?” and Kate replies “We're going on vacation, baby.”
- We see shots of the people left behind on the island standing around, and then a person in a yellow jumpsuit popping out of a bunker door pointing a large gun at someone who appears to be Faraday.
- We then see Jack and Ben talking. Jack says “Everyone we left behind, they'd die too if I didn't come back.” Ben replies “Well thank god for second chances.”
See what I mean about more questions? In an interview with tvguide.com senior editor Matt Webb Mitovich answered the following question about whether Season 5 will be all about the Oceanic 6, or if we'll still be following the characters left on the island. I have this nagging feeling that Lost from here on will focus on the Oceanic 6, at the expense of the people - my Sawyer included! - left on the island. Please tell me I'm wrong. - Lauren
Matt: I take great pleasure in telling you that you are wrong. I then laugh derisively in your general direction. Have no fear, Lauren, the left-behinders will get plenty of air time. In fact, a (probably well-tanned) setsider tells me that Elizabeth Mitchell, for one, has never had more to do and as such is busier than a one-armed paperhanger. But is she getting busy with Your Sawyer? That's the question.
We still don't have an official date from ABC for the premiere of Season 5 beyond “early 2009” but it's expected the show will air in January/February 2009.
