Angelia Grant, chief fairy officer over at fairy-wings.com, creates some beautiful wings! I recently had the opprotunity to ask her thoughts on wings, fantasy, and other fun things!
FantasyIsLove.com:
How long have you been crafting wings?
Angelia Grant:
I made my first pair of wings in 1998, and I enjoyed it so much that I began making more and more until my house was overflowing with fairy wings!

Do you have a personal favorite pair of wings?
Angelia Grant:
They all hold a special place in my heart, but right now, "Danielle" which were recently featured in the Dark Garden Windows at the Dickens Faire is a particular favorite (the large blue wings.) These were created as an homage to the artwork of Amy Brown who has been such a huge influence not on just myself but on the world of fairy.

We all know that interacting with customers can sometimes be a struggle; however, do you have any favorite customer interactions you'd like to share?
Angelia Grant:
Much like my wings, each customer is very special to me. However, if I single out just one interaction as being extraordinary, that would have to be when I was contacted by a lady who is known as Fairy Nana. This wonderful woman creates the most beautiful fairy costumes which she then donates to the Make a Wish Foundation. Fairy Nana contacted me to pair some of her costumes with fairy wings. To know that my work would be used to help bring a little happiness and joy to children who are in such drastic situations truly touched my heart. Since then, my friendship circle has been greatly enriched by Fairy Nana's presence!

I see on your website that you offer custom ordering! As a customer, what does that entail? How much do customers need to know before getting in contact with you?
Angelia Grant:
All a customer truly needs to know about a custom order is that they want a pair of fairy wings! From there, through a series of questions, I can easily help them to determine what size they would like, what basic shape interests them, and what colors appeal to them. The wings are made to match the person... and hopefully I can capture most of their creative desires in my creations... JUST FOR THEM.

Other than fairy wings, what are your fantasy interests?
Angelia Grant:
I love all things pirate, mermaid, fairy tales, Harry Potter, Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball....basically, if it involves a costume of some sort, I have an interest in it!

Do you have any other projects, or personal hobbies?
Angelia Grant:
My husband and I enjoy participating at our local renaissance faires where I can usually be found working in the archery booth. I'm also horribly addicted to several online communities. If I ever lose my internet connection, I won't know what to do with myself!
