Breaking Dawn/Twilight Saga Themed Party Ideas
By Faith McKay
With the release of Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer (the fourth book in the Twilight Saga!) coming out on August 2nd many of us are planning Breaking Dawn parties-and even after the release of this book, many of us are interested in throwing Twilight Saga themed parties in general. Below, I have listed a number of ideas I've brainstormed for Twilight themed parties, some are more original than others but I feel it's a fairly comprehensive list. I hope some of these come in as useful for you. If you do throw a Twilight themed party I'd love to hear how it went!
-The covers of the books are black and red, so, a black and red theme
---- black tablecloths, with red tableware
---- black and red invitations with instructions for guests to try and dress according to the color theme
-Apples. You can do bobbing for apples? Apple pie? etc
-You can do one half of the room with Vampire décor, the other with Werewolf.
----glitter on tables, centerpieces with apples with bites in them, fangs, white makeup your guests can put on, bats hanging from the ceiling or used in centerpieces, little coffins
---you can put white paw prints on the table cloth, stuffed furry dogs as centerpieces, you can decorate with shredded clothes, full moon decorations such as photos of the phases of the moon
---You could add a Switzerland table to the center of the room
-You can play the song Claire de Lune
----You can play musical chairs to Claire de Lune
-You can hand out vampire fangs at the door
-You can hang up speed limit signs or pictures of speedometers with crazy high numbers
-Tie red ribbons on things
-Have cards made up with names of different characters in the books (ones we should know well) and as guests come in the door, put double sided tape on the backs of the cards and tape the cards to people’s foreheads. Have them ask other guests questions about themselves to try and figure out who they are. For instance, if I were one of the guests trying to figure out who I was, I would ask “Do I sparkle in the sun?” and if they said yes, then I know I’m one of the vampire characters. If you say that you can only ask one person one question, you then have your guests mingling and meeting each other.
-You can play the playlists from Stephenie Meyer’s website for each book
-You could hang up signs around your party with the quotes from Stephenie Meyer’s website leading up to the publication of Breaking Dawn.
-You can hang up signs around your party with quotes from the books in general
-You can play Trivia Twilight questions, examples are “Who said this quote?” or “Who plays Esme in the film?” or “What year was Edward born?”
-You can set up a television and watch the Twilight Trailers released thus far
-You can ask guests on the invitations to come prepared with their favorite or funniest quote from the books, and ask that people guess who said them, and which book they are from
