David Eddings – Author Spotlight

David Eddings was born July 7th, 1931 in Spokane, Washington. Since then, he has written several series of best-selling epic fantasy with his wife, Leigh Eddings, though she went uncredited in many of his early works. Leigh Eddings passed away in February of 2007.

While David Eddings does not have an official webpage and doesn’t own a computer (or a typewriter), in 2006 he did do an interview with sffworld.com When asked what it is he thinks draws people to fantasy he replied, “Fantasy takes people away from the real world and almost everybody dislikes the real world.”

He originally wrote general fiction novels, and has written several in his career even after publishing his first fantasy fiction series, The Belgariad. Pawn of Prophecy, the first in The Belgariad series, was first published in 1982. Eddings has completed five fantasy series since that time and one standalone fantasy novel.
